YORK City supporter Nick Theobald was the highest bidder in the auction to become Jackie McNamara’s assistant manager for the pre-season friendly against Doncaster Rovers.

Nick’s winning bid of £405.00 was placed with two minutes to go yesterday evening and he will now take his place on the bench alongside the City boss on Tuesday at Bootham Crescent.

On hearing he had won the competition, Bristol-based Nick said: “It will be honour and a privilege to sit alongside Jackie and witness at first hand the manager at work – it’s a dream come true.”

The auction forms part of the fundraising for the York City Golf Day and all monies raised from the auction and the main event on 1st August at Forest Park Golf Club will go to the Football Club.

The organising committee would like to thank all those who took part in the auction over the last few weeks and send their congratulations to Nick.
