This section of our website is dedicated to families and City ‘debutants’ – young fans making their first visit to Bootham Crescent.
York City prides itself on being a community-centred, family club. We aim to offer a safe environment, a warm welcome and we want every visitor, both young and old, to have a positive matchday experience.
The club has a dedicated Family Stand, offering special rates for children and their carers. Admission costs £19 for adults and £9 for children under the age of 16, meaning a family of four (two adults and two children) can save up to £14 on normal admission prices. There is no admission to the stand for adults unless they are accompanied by children.
The Family Stand is situated at the front of the York Pullman Main Stand. It is a covered, all-seated stand, close to the pitch, the dug outs and players’ tunnel. It offers a fantastic view of the action, with the City players usually warming up in front of the stand prior to kick-off.
The Family Stand is relatively close to the David Longhurst Stand, where most of the home fans stand, sing and produce some stunning flag and banner displays, allowing youngsters to soak up the match-day atmosphere from a safe vantage point.
The club has a dedicated mascot, Yorkie the Lion, who prowls the side of the pitch and the Family Stand on matchdays and will be on hand to meet and greet young fans. Don’t worry, he doesn’t bite, but he does like to swirl his tail!
The club also offers a dedicated Family Room. Manned by volunteers and situated inside the Main Stand, the Family Room offers free admission to families and provides warmth and shelter from the elements prior to kick-off and at half-time. A selection of hot and cold drinks and snacks are always on sale.
Access to the Family Stand is via Turnstile 9, which is situated on the left hand side and towards the bottom of the car park at Bootham Crescent. The nearest toilets are available just inside the ground after entering via Turnstile 9.
Family Stand tickets MUST be bought in advance from the Bootham Crescent ticket office. It opens from 9.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10.30am until kick-off.
For those visiting the ground, the ticket office is situated half-way down the car park, on the left hand side.
Please note, there is a £1 booking fee for credit and debit card transactions.
The club’s matchday programme, priced £3, has a section dedicated to young fans. The programme is always keen to feature fans celebrating their birthdays, or supporters making their ‘debut’ at York City. We can also arrange for a special message to be read out at half-time by our matchday announcer. If you are celebrating a birthday, or are making your first appearance at Bootham Crescent, and would like a mention in the programme or over the tannoy, please email your details to email@example.com
as far in advance of the big day as possible.
(Because of deadlines and limited space, the club cannot guarantee inclusion, but it will endeavour to meet every request).
Match programmes are available to buy from sellers situated from various locations in the car park outside the ground. Look out for their green vests.
There are a number of food kiosks around the ground selling hot food, including burgers, pies, hot dogs, match day specials such as nachos and cheese, sweets, chocolate and hot and cold drinks. The nearest kiosk to the Family Stand is situated to the right of the stand as you look at the pitch, in the void between the Family Stand and the David Longhurst Stand.
The Club Shop, which sells replica kits, clothing, souvenirs and gifts, is open from noon to 5pm Monday to Friday, and on Saturday matchdays from 12.30pm to 5.45pm. It is situated just inside the main gates at Bootham Crescent.
There is no parking at the ground on match days, and limited parking around Bootham Crescent. For more advice on parking and directions to Bootham Crescent, please visit the ‘Club’ section of our website and click on the ‘Visit Us’ tab.
