IN SCHOOL COACHING OPPORTUNITIES

The Foundation team visit hundreds of schools each academic year across York, Ryedale and Selby. The coaches offer a variety of inschool coaching or educational workshops within school time (usually from 9.30am to 2.30pm) to all year groups or specific year groups, with different themes each half term.

Foundation coaches welcome teacher involvement and are happy to pass on their coaching experience, so that some aspects can be repeated with the students after the programme has been completed.

These sessions are usually free of charge to schools once during each academic year when another activity is booked such as a Lunch Time or After School Club, otherwise a small charge is applicable to cover travel expenses.

For more information or to book, please contact the Foundation team on 01904 559508 or email community@yorkcityfootballclub.co.uk

SCHOOL PPA COVER

The principle behind PPA time is to relieve some of the existing workload pressures on teachers and to raise standards by providing guaranteed time for planning, preparation and assessment.

The Foundation offers the services of qualified and experienced coaches to take control of physical education sessions. The sessions are pre-planned between the school and Foundation Team, making sure that whichever specific sport or range of sports chosen for the session meets the schools national curriculum guidelines for PE. The team are able to offer a wide range of coaching for a variety of sports.

The session will be run by one member of our team, who will come to the school for an hour or an entire morning/afternoon (and thus be able to take timetable periods) freeing up teaching staff. All our coaches are FA qualified, and have attended first aid and child protection classes and are fully qualified, plus CRB checked. An hourly charge is applicable, which can be reduced if a significant number of hours are required.

The cover is available for all school years and can take the form of fun games and competitions, to basic skills training and small sided games.

For more information or to book, please contact the community team on 01904 559508 or community@yorkcityfootballclub.co.uk

AFTER SCHOOL COACHING

This is a six week football specific coaching course where Foundation coaches conduct sessions after school hours (3.30pm-4.30pm) for children attending specific schools, after school clubs, junior clubs or other community groups. This package can run for a single six week block or can be extended to run from term to term. In order for the package to be beneficial for the children, a minimum of 12 children is required.

The coaching programme focuses on:

Ball control
Dribbling and turns
Passing techniques
Movement off the ball
Attacking and goal scoring principles
Defending and small sided games

On completion of the course all children will receive a York City F.C. Foundation certificate.

SPONSORED PENALTY SHOOT-OUT FUNDRAISERS

This can be added on to an in-school coaching programme or completed as a stand alone event.

The Foundation will organise a sponsored penalty shootout which is a great day for the children, and a good fundraiser for the school. All children and teachers in the school will be given the opportunity to take part in the penalty shootout. Each person takes 5 penalties against our goalkeeper, and the child that scores the most goals in each class will receive a prize.

Participants are provided with sponsor forms and will be required to return these with their sponsorship money within two week of the event. The monies raised will be then split 50/50 between the school/other organisation and York City Football Club Foundation.

The Foundation also offer incentives to help the children raise sponsorship:

Raise £25 or more and receive a signed York City ball
Raise £50 or more and receive a signed York City ball and two match tickets
Prizes will be presented following monies being returned.
